Web Design Axioms

Communication Objective- The main objective of the website is to inform you with as much information as you need, but in the shortest amount of time possible. 98% of whatever your looking for is on the home page and only a few clicks from bring accessed. Most of the time you don't even need to click outside of the homepage to find what your looking for.

Strong Grid- The grid of the landing page is mainly a horizontal layout. Everything seems to be structured to follow horizontally rather than in a vertical manner. Most of the content that comes up scrolls left to right.

Lower Right- The lower right of the home page is mainly taken up Human Poll  links. Where people can participate in certain debates on athletes or teams. The other space is taken up by little links that will direct you to their Shop, ESPN Radio, or ESPN Magazine. Overall I don't think that the lower right section of the home page was meant to catch much attention.

Continuity- The landing page uses continuity to help direct the viewer towards the most recent or import sections of the page. Your eyes immediately go to what's being focused on at that time, rather than a random section.

Intuitiveness- To me this website is the definition of intuitive. The way I see it is the faster you can access your information the better off you are. ESPN's website does that in a brilliant fashion.

Affordance- The home page I have chosen does an amazing job of not only covering your sports needs, but also advertises new movies that are coming out and media of that nature. The whole objective of this site is to further more inform you in the sports world, but it also gives you other options besides sports such as shopping, music, videos, and games.
