Frame Composition

Rule of Thirds

This picture is awesome for many reasons but for me it breaks down to 3 different elements that make it special to me. The first is obviously how it uses the rule of thirds in a horizontal format with the skyline as the top third, the fields as the second third, and road as the bottom third because of how close the road is to the photographer. It automatically gives you the feeling that the road takes up the whole bottom third. The second reason why I find this picture unique is because it uses the rule of thirds in a vertical format as well. Even though the road takes up the majority of the fields, it still gives you the feeling that this whole picture is divided by three vertically as well as horizontally. The third and final aspect of this picture that I want to point out is how the road at the end acts as a vanishing point. All of your attention is drawn to the vanishing point of this photo.
